here is the sample dress that i made for the sewing class that will repeat later this month at lena’s, from the Built by You pattern #3835. i was really excited for it to become my new wear-it-all-the-time, perfect-for-all-occasions, go-to dress. unfortunately, it came out a bit– ahem– snug. weird because i made it the same size as my other BBY favorite pattern (#3964), of which i believe i’ve made five. what’s up with sewing pattern size inconsistency? so i gave it to xine, who looks SO much better in it! now i have to make a new one for myself…

will september ever NOT make us instinctively crave new clothes and learning? you can accomplish both at once by learning to make your own clothing and accessories! i’ve got a packed fall teaching schedule ahead of me, between classes in brooklyn one week every month, and teaching up here via double knot and ulster BOCES in between!

here’s a quickie synapsis of what i’ll be teaching and where. check the venue sites for more complete specifics!

brooklyn:

introductory patternmaking (skirt or t-shirt) and t-shirt sewing (one-day workshops) at Home Ec

intro patternmaking workshops at Brooklyn General (see fall 2009 complete schedule here)

all-day intermediate sewing classes chez lena

upstate:

learn to sew, learn to crochet, and embroidery (TBA) @ double knot

beginner sewing and be your own tailor @ ulster BOCES
