here’s my monthly roundup of the classes i’ll be teaching in brooklyn later this month:
saturday march 27, 11am-4pm: beginner sewing @ lena corwin’s studio
if you want to learn sewing from the very beginning, this one-day workshop is perfect. we’ll learn the nuts and bolts, like threading your machine, good sewing practices, and how to sew a simple seam. then you will cut from a pattern and begin sewing your first project, a lined tote bag with a pocket! machines available for students to use (for an extra charge of $10), or you can bring your own.
sunday march 28, 10am-12pm: skirt patternmaking @ brooklyn general
in this 2-hour class you will learn the basic principles of making your own sewing patterns, and make a pattern for an A-line skirt that fits your own unique body. with this foundation you’ll be able to sew the projects you envision!
sunday march 28, 2-4:30pm: T-shirt patternmaking @ home ec
if you’ve always dreamed of making your own patterns, here’s your opportunity! in this 2.5 hour introductory workshop, you will learn to draft the pattern for a T-shirt that fits YOUR body. this pattern can become the basis for all sorts of styles to augment your wardrobe.
