Intimidated by zippers? Don’t be! In this 2-hour class Cal will show you the three kinds of zippers applicable to most projects: centered zipper, fly zipper, and invisible zipper. Whether you’re making a simple zippered pouch, a pair of trousers or an evening gown, you’ll always know just which zipper to choose!

Confused by how (and when) to sew different kinds of seams? In this 2-hour class we’ll explore a variety of seams and seam finishes, such as French, mock French, flat-felled, clean finish, and Hong Kong bound. These classic techniques will make the insides of your projects look so neat and professional, you might start wearing them inside-out!

 

Patternmaking Simplified @ Purl Soho

Sunday, May 22 from 2-6pm

Have you always wanted to make your OWN sewing patterns? It’s not as hard as you think to use your own measurements to draft patterns made to fit YOUR body. In this all-day workshop, Cal will show you two projects using techniques from her book, Design-It-Yourself Clothes. We’ll begin with an A-line skirt and then proceed to a sleeveless shift dress. With this foundation you can go on to making all kinds of garments, and a whole new wardrobe!
