Toronto trip #1: the workroom

ok, it’s really about time i shared with you my experiences in Toronto, isn’t it? this will be the first of several posts (i know, “famous last words…”) because i have so much goodness to share…

above you see the wonderful workroom, where i taught two sold-out-with-waiting-list patternmaking classes. that’s never happened to me before! i guess it proves what a cool place it is ;n) next time i visit, i will definitely line up more classes there. they are having a really cool sounding *summer day camp* program (yes, for adults), and one of my Squam buddies Lizzy House is teaching! in the photo you can see the sweet resident canine, Maisy, and her boyfriend Gordon came to class too. what a fun, super-inspiring space! i think if there was one place in the world i wish would open a second location in my neighborhood, the workroom would be it… it was so nice to be amongst such an active community of people who really SEW.

full credit goes to the darling Karyn, the brains and beauty behind this lovely place! i am so thankful to Karyn for having me, and can’t wait to teach there again.

i didn’t even let myself go near this awesome wall of fabric.  i knew if i did, too much of it would beg to come home with me. unfortunately the Nani Iro double gauze was lying out on a table and i fell prey to it’s magical powers. i chose this one. i’ll show you all of my treasures later this week!

here are the sewing tables, equipped with Berninas, which are also sold there.

and here is my afternoon class, in which we made dress patterns (that’s Karyn second from right). i forgot to take a pic of the morning t-shirt class, which is disappointing because there was a surprise special guest in that one: Margie of Resurrection Fern, the most gorgeous blog you’ve ever seen in your life! i was speechless and floored (i think i even cried), and she gave me a very special gift too, which i promise to show you later. Margie came with Arounna of Bookhou, and it was a thrill and an honor to have both of these inspiring ladies in my class!

these little houses are from another class happening there; all the regulars seemed to be making them and now i want to as well! [oh my goodness, looky over here and you will REALLY want to!]

as usual (when possible), Gertie assisted me in teaching the class… (this photo by Karyn; see lots more projects and products from this heavenly place on her flickr page.)

and if you’re craving more, Karyn’s blog make something is chock-full of photos and info too!
