heading north

later this month i am very happy to be heading back up to Toronto! i had such a good time there last year, visiting alisa and her posse, and the ladies of lettuce knit and teaching at the workroom, so i’ve decided it should be a spring tradition. this time i’ll be teaching a full weekend (5 classes) at the workroom, and i just posted them on my classes page. hurry and you might snag a spot! plus check out their amazing schedule of other upcoming workshops, most of which i dream of attending! so many good ones, like shibori (this sunday!), moccasin-making, japanese dress books… ok, i’m drooling… that karyn just has the best taste and i’m a huge fan of her shop.

there are so many things i’m excited about for this trip! one is that, for the first time EVER, i’m teaching how to make the coveted Kathy Dress, which i think is the most popular style in my book. it’s very similar to my smock dresses, but it has a set-in sleeve instead of a raglan. also, instead of driving, this time i’m taking the train. the downside of this is that gertie can’t come along, but the good part is that i’ll have a full 12 hours of handwork time each way, and i won’t arrive with a migraine! other bits i can’t wait for are seeing alisa’s new house, visiting all the friends i made last year, and nibbling some of the lovely treats we encountered. and discovering new ones too of course!
