before i leave for the UK (today! squee!) i thought i’d better share my Rhinebeck adventures. i was there four days in a row, which you probably didn’t even think was possible! classes started on thursday though, and for the first time, i took one. it was a spinning class, called Creating the Yarn You Want, with Amy Tyler, and it was just what i’d been needing! when i spin, i just sort of zone out and spin my “default” yarn, without really having a plan. this class showed us how to take control of our yarn and spin it however we want it to be, in terms of size, twist, etc. i would highly recommend Amy as a teacher; she was very energetic and organized, and even gave us each our own binder filled with every exercise for the class typed up onto index cards to which we could attach our samples. brilliant!
as is now our tradition, alisa came down from Toronto to visit for the weekend. we had such a fun time! you can read her account of the festival here. we were dressed in our finery and ready to go saturday morning! i am wearing my new, hot-off-the-hook “rhinebeck sweater” which i will have to tell you about another time.

i did my spinning demonstration shift at my guild booth, the Ulster County Handspinners Guild. all in all, the weekend flew by and we were exhausted and filled to the brim with fibery goodness until next year!
