there are about a hundred reasons why i was thrilled that the magic of Google Alerts* led me to the delightfully anachronistic destination of Casey’s Elegant Musings. let’s see how many i can list:
— Casey is adorable. and somehow simultaneously exists in the 1930’s and 2010. how does she do it?
— she referenced my book as a starting point for drafting the pattern for this blouse.
— this blouse looks nothing like anything in my book. and that’s what i love! my hope is that people will take the basic lessons and use them to make what they envision. and she did an exquisite job of that.
— furthermore, Casey’s impeccable style is very different from the projects i illustrate, but this is a perfect example of how styling is all in the details.
— she kindly shared her photos in the Design-It-Yourself flickr pool, and has elevated the standards in there by a few notches!
— she crocheted her own buttons!!!
— she made this little number from one of her husband’s worn-out shirts, because the chambray fabric was too good to let go of. a girl after my own heart!
— she also made a gorgeous top using one of those crocheted yokes i worship.
— she’s inspired a new post category: girl crushes.
i won’t go on any longer, because by now you’re probably itching to pay a visit and be inspired by Casey’s sewing, knitting, and graphic design genius. if you are intrigued and would like to see more, wander over to her scrumptious blog and chock-full photo album. but be prepared to get lost for a few hours…
*(you do have one set up for your name, your blog, your company, and anything else you’d like to know if someone mentions online, don’t you?)
