i first met Accacia Mullen at the Slow Fashion Retreat in 2019 in Bar Harbor, Maine. when you meet people at retreats, the bond can be quick, deep and long-lasting! we had already been chatting via email about me coming down to her shop Make It Sew in Lexington, VA to teach, and we set a date for Spring of 2020… well, you can see where this story goes! “things” got in the way, and it didn’t happen…
fast-forward to 2023: we are ready to try it again! in May i’ll be heading down south to teach two classes, Boxy Tee/Drapey Tunic on Saturday, and Leggings on Sunday. together they make a fantastic foundation for a handmade wardrobe. you could make your own mini retreat out of the weekend, and come to both!
the classes will take place at Accacia’s epic studio space. just look at that cutting table!!! that is the stuff sewing fantasies are made of…
i’m thrilled that i get to teach at some new spots every year, and i can’t wait to visit Accacia’s awesome shop and studio, as well as Lexington itself which i’ve never been to!
these two classes are my favorite intros into drafting your own patterns (and then sewing up garments from them) based on YOUR unique body measurements. both are extremely simple, one-piece patterns that will show you that pattern drafting is not anywhere near as difficult as you might imagine. you already know about my feelings for the Boxy/Drapey, and i wear leggings almost every day of the year, usually with some form of tunic! so i consider both of these garments to be Wardrobe Essentials.
we’ve still got room for YOU in both classes, so reserve your spot ASAP before they fill! hope to see you in Lexington!
