i have a lot to look forward to this year, but coming up very soon is an event that i hope will become an annual tradition: in April, i’m headed to my dear friend and patchwork-sister Katherine Ferrier’s magical studio in Rockland, Maine, where we will co-teach a brand-new workshop titled PIECE OUT: Patchwork Boxy Top Three Ways. we have been dreaming this up for months, and could NOT be more excited about it! we are both enamored with the process of sewing together scraps of cloth into exquisite one-of-a-kind works of art that you can wear.
i will also be teaching two more workshops while i’m there: Boxy Tee/Drapey Tunic (pairs beautifully with the Piece Out class the following day!) in which you’ll learn to draft your own pattern, and Visible Mending: Patching and Darning. you can take one, two or all three and create your own sewing retreat weekend!
i’ve always had a crush on old school buildings, and katherine’s studio is in the super cool Lincoln Street Center in the sweet coastal town of Rockland, Maine. i’ve had a special place in my heart for Rockland for many years now, because it is also home to one of my favorite New England fabric and fiber shops: Clementine, home of Leo & Sea printed fabrics, designed with iconic coastal Maine imagery, and Starcroft Fiber yarn, spun from sheep raised on an island off the coast of Maine. you’ll definitely want to stop in to get supplies for class, or just to bring home some souvenirs!
full detailed descriptions of each class, as well as registration links, are over at katherine’s website. we think it’s going to be a grand weekend, and we’d love to have you join us for one or all of these workshops!
