it’s been a little while since i had a new class with Creativebug, but i’m SO PLEASED to report that i was back there in May to film three fun garment-making workshops, and the first is ready to roll TODAY! it’s called Draft + Sew Wide Leg Pants and in it you’ll learn how to draft your own custom pattern using YOUR unique measurements, so that you can make up some comfy pants exactly as you like them!
see that sly look on my face? that’s the face of a woman who knows about Secret Pajamas. i had mostly stopped wearing pants, until i re-discovered the comfort of elastic waistbands! essentially they’re pajama pants, but here’s a little secret: when you make them in a nice, sophisticated fabric like yarn-dyed linen (as opposed to, say, pink flannel printed with giraffes wearing hats), they become a lovely garment you can actually wear outside the house!
in this class i’ll show you how to take the measurements needed, draft your very own custom pattern (easier than you think), sew the pants with French seams and an elastic casing waistband, and you KNOW i’ll show you how to add some built-in pockets, because pockets are essential. i’ve made lots of hacks and modified versions of the pattern too, which i’ll be showing you in some future posts.
note: links to my classes on Creativebug from my site are affiliate links, which mean i get a few pennies (thank you!) if you click over and subscribe from here, helping to support the work that i do. you can also get a free 30-day trial with code CALPATCH. if you already subscribe, you already have access to this class, as well as all of my other pattern drafting, garment sewing and crochet classes. watching my classes also helps me by keeping them active and relevant, which in turn leads to me getting to film more new ones for YOU! i sincerely appreciate every one of my students. thank you!
