february classes

well i’m about to become a very busy bee this month (or at least a busier bee than i’ve been so far this year). i’ve got a few new teaching venue relationships brewing, in and around my new upstate locale, which makes me happy because it means i am slowly beginning to wean myself off of the big city. i mean, i will probably always want to visit and teach in nyc occasionally, but a girl can’t have chickens and goats if she’s leaving home for a few days every month, can she? farmers don’t just pick up and go away for a week on a lark. but i digress…

here’s the roundup of classes i’ll be teaching this month:

this coming saturday (february 13th) i’ll be teaching embroidery at clay, wood & cotton in beacon, ny. that’s a snippet above of the embroidery pattern i designed for the class, since it happens to be the day before valentine’s.

the following weekend i’m teaching three classes at my usual haunts:

saturday (2/20) at lena corwin’s studio i’m doing an all-day patternmaking workshop from 11-4 (delicious vegetarian lunch included). this is a rare opportunity to get an intensive crash course in one day; we’ll do the A-line skirt and T-shirt patterns all in one go. lena has made a new site for the classes at her place so you might want to subscribe to the feed and be amongst the first to know, as they often sell out!

sunday (2/21) from 10am-noon will be my T-shirt patternmaking workshop at brooklyn general.

and sunday from 2-4pm is my A-line skirt patternmaking workshop at home ec.

if that isn’t enough, and you happen to live up around these parts (that’d be ulster county), i’m teaching beginner sewing at ulster BOCES (in port ewen) starting this wednesday (2/10) from 6-8 pm. it’s a 4-week class and you’ll learn how to use your machine and make a wrap skirt.

also, remember to keep an eye on the double knot studio site for more upstate class listings! jill and i are trying to find more new places to teach in the area, so if you know a fun cafe, art space, or community center that might be open to hosting some classes, please let us know…
