it’s still May, but it feels like summer here in NY state. before i head up to Maine in July for my annual 3 weeks of retreats, i’ve got a few local classes happening and wanted to be sure you know about them.
first up is Hand-Stitched T-Shirt at Yarn Farm in Kingston, NY, happening over 3 consecutive Sundays: June 14, 21 and 28th from 10:30am-12:30pm. you may have taken my woven Hand Sew A Shirt class, online or in-person, or you might be new to sewing garments by hand. either way, i think you’ll enjoy learning to stitch up T-shirts wherever you are, including your summer excursions like beaches, docks, picnic tables, ice cream stands, boats, trains, campfires, you get the idea… it’s your new favorite portable fiber art!

then on Friday, June 19 we’ve got another CLONE IT! at Beetle & Fred in Beacon, NY. i’ll teach you how to draft a pattern using a favorite garment from your closet, and then you can dive in and try your hand at one (or more) patterns, and stitch up a quick muslin to test the fit. these usually sell out, so grab your spot while there is one!

on Wednesday, June 24, learn how to embroider at Yarn Farm in Kingston. we will cover about a dozen of my favorite stitches, and perhaps a bit of applique too. embroidery is such a useful skill, and so versatile; you can use it to embellish things you’ve sewn, knitted or crocheted, or even things you didn’t!

and lastly, hook up some granny squares with me in GAGA For Granny Squares, July 12 at Yarn Farm, and you’ll be squared away to make some fun projects for Fall and Winter! you could even have a granny square sweater made up in time to wear it to Sheep & Wool in October…
i hope to see you out there somewhere. stay cool!
