nesting

i promise my Squam post tomorrow, but quickly for now have to share my new most favorite thing: this nest full of tiny fuzzies that hatched while i was away, just above our front door. the shells that fell out of the nest are the tiniest i’ve ever seen: about the diameter of a dime! we believe they are house sparrows, and i thought there were only two but upon closer inspection of the photos i took today, i think i see at least three or four yellow beaks, gaping open at all times…

you can be sure there are more photos to come. i’ve never had the opportunity to watch a nest of baby birds grow up before! and this cheers me since we lost a chicken, Joan, while i was gone. the culprit is still at large but we are on the case!
