tonight i finally made it up to the Museum of Arts and Design for the show Pricked: Extreme Embroidery. i found the show incredibly inspiring… especially these three artists’ work:
maira kalman, whose lovely embroidered pieces i had seen online but never in person…
andrea dezso, who i just figured out i once knew when i had my shop! her mini samplers of her mother’s imaginative warnings transfixed both me and george…
…and orly cogan, who stitches poetically innocent yet pornographic fantastical images onto vintage tablecloths and bedspreads.
