all week i have been reminded that last year at this time i was in mexico! i never got around to posting my pics here, for various reasons, the biggest being that my old computer was so slow at uploading photos so it would have taken me hours to do the photo-filled posts i wanted to do.
one of the first things i fell in love with there was the marigolds. they have never been at the top of my list of favorite flowers, but i have never seen entire fields full of them before, or truckloads of them everywhere, or giant mounds of them at the market. they are the main flower used in Day of the Dead decorating and celebrating, and they were everywhere. i gained a whole new appreciation for the hardy little blossoms. when we arrived, every landscape contained patches of orange where farmers were growing them, but by the end of the week, every one had been cut down and was adorning a shrine, table or grave.
