three things thursday

patchwork poetry block by the ever-inspiring Katherine Ferrier

i just realized it’s thursday, and, inspired by my pal Gale Zucker, i had decided earlier this week that i should adopt her new practice (i think it’s a thing many people do?) of a Three Things on a Thursday blog post. i do tend to overthink and procrastinate my posts, so i like the idea of jumping in for a quick-and-dirty one more often. and there are usually so many things i neglect/forget/mean to tell you… so here we go:

  1. did you know i’m teaching at Craft South in May? i am beyond excited to visit Nashville and Anna Maria Horner’s lovely shop (and meet her for the first time)! but it will only happen if we get enough students, so please spread the word if you know anyone in the area who might want to learn how to draft and sew a custom-fitted shift dress!

2. have you seen aoibhe ni’s amazing Tunisian crochet patterns? i have been wanting to learn Tunisian for EONS and have long admired her designs. so when i saw that she’s having a CAL this month, i had to take the plunge. it was really hard to choose which pattern to try, but seeing this photo by alisha of crochetandlemoncakes (i love her Insta name so much!) sealed the deal for me, and Finola it is. mine isn’t much to look at yet, but soon… or watch my progress here.

3. my friend katherine ferrier (that’s her patchwork piece at the top) writes a lovely, soothing newsletter that i enjoy reading every week. it’s more uplifting than most i get, and less marketing-oriented. she usually writes a little poem, and includes a lesson from her wise cat Milo… she describes her agenda way more eloquently than i could: “I want this newsletter to work like a tether; to reach out and keep us connected; to offer you ways to practice paying attention in a world that is often hard to look at; to let you know you are not alone; and to encourage you to keep going. I hope you enjoy it. “
