four fibery friday funbits

funbit #1: it’s #MendMarch! who knew? organized by Kate of @visiblemend. i only found out around yesterday. i’m usually slow to really embrace a new month, still clinging to the old one (and all the things i haven’t yet finished) for at least the first week or two. but it was serendipitous to discover this news, since i have a pile of hole-y sweaters sitting on the arm of my couch, next to my evening nest. nothing like an Instagram challenge to motivate me! find all the prompts right here. and if you need some tips or how-to’s, my How to Mend Clothing video might be helpful!

funbit #2: i’m a huge fan of Christi Johnson / @stitchwish‘s work, and her new iron-on dissolvable embroidery transfers are SO COOL! check ’em out.

funbit #3: it’s (almost) that time of year again! #the100dayproject starts April 7, 2020! what are YOU gonna do? my favorite part of these might just be the dreaming up of different ideas…

funbit #4: do you know about *Sewing Fairies*? i mention them a lot in my classes; they’re the ones who help you magically thread your needle even though you can barely see the eye, or who naughtily make your bobbin run out 3 inches before the end of your seam. my brilliant pal Deborah of Fish Museum + Circus has created these clever one-of-a-kind ceramic Sewing Fairies that are so exquisitely lovely! their wings are a tiny pair of scissors! their hats are pincushions! and they have a magnetic needle-minder too. if you’d like to invite one to keep you company while you sew, they’ll be posted at 5pm EST on Saturday, 3/7/20. they’re sure to go quick!
