get out the colored pencils!

i’ve been seeing a few different artists offering up free downloadable coloring pages as a fun quarantine activity; a cool way to collaborate with some of your favorite artists! above, Lisa Congdon contributed this cheerful page to a coloring book project with Adobe (there are pages from 10 different illustrators included) and i can’t wait to start filling it in!

sandra juto created these awesome pages, the first i saw of this genre that fits so well with this peculiar time. they definitely look like hours of fun for kids and adults alike…

and Heather Moore of Skinny laMinx offers the “Seriously, have a good day” page above as some sweet consolation to our predicament.

all of these downloads are offered by the artists for free, but if you can, please try to support them, either now or in the near future!

and if you prefer a good old-fashioned modern PHYSICAL coloring book, to buy and send as a gift or for your own entertainment, my pal Jacinta Bunnell makes these rad ones that break gender norms and push the boundaries of what a coloring book can be! “Given the gender stereotypes pervasive in most children’s literature, this coloring book is a fun consciousness-raising tool for adults & children who want to unlearn a lifetime of gender-biased education.” it’s illustrated by Jacinta and many of her talented artist friends, and she has 4 other books too, see (and purchase) them all here.
