the band played on

since the quarantine began, i’ve watched at least 3 live concerts, and missed out on so many more. it’s almost overwhelming how many wonderful performances are happening! i like it best when a friend texts me that something amazing is happening RIGHT NOW (thanks Doreen!), which is what happened with this sweet garden show by Louisiana-based Tuba Skinny (above), a band i’d never heard of but now adore, while i was cooking dinner one night. you can watch it too and pretend it’s live! of course, that happened before the whole country was on lockdown, when bands in some areas could still gather…

since then i’ve also caught live-from-their-living-room sets by Alela Diane and Lucius, and i hope to witness lots more before this is all over. my suggestion to you is to check in on every band or musician you love, make sure you are following them and subscribed to their newsletters, and tell all your friends if you hear of an upcoming show. and ask your friends to do the same! many of the concerts are fundraisers, but don’t forget to tip the band or buy their records to support them too. and feel free to share some below as well…
