holiday tale

well, it was an interesting holiday for sure. you gotta roll with the punches, right?

the original plan was that Mr. Smith would go to the UK to visit his family and return on the 22nd, then he and i were going to have a cozy Xmas day in our new house, in front of our new woodstove, and i would go to Ohio to visit my family the week following. unfortunately, Mother Nature had different plans, and the crazy snowstorm that brought much of Europe to a standstill caused his flight to be canceled. and the first one he could rebook onto wasn’t until the 27th. i’m sure everyone was affected in one way or another by the global weather chaos, so i’ll spare you the details, but in the end i had a solitary day with the animals, spinning (i finally finished the skein of yarn for the project, but more on that in another post), crocheting and knitting by the fire, and drinking endless amounts of tea in my new goat mug from my favorite potter. not a bad day at all…

the day after, we had a blizzard of our own in NY (and the entire east coast), and our usually dry porch was coated with snow because of the crazy winds. it was beautiful, but of course delayed the return of my honeypie yet AGAIN (he had to spend 24 hours in Minneapolis as a result). so he finally returned a full week after he was supposed to, in time for a peaceful celebration of the new year at our local pub.

as usual when a new year begins, i’ve got lots of plans, goals and announcements to make! so expect to hear a lot more out of me in the next few weeks…

but for now, i’ll leave you with HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! i’ve got good vibes about this one.
