invitation to a year of handmade wardrobe

there are few things i love more than the proud face of a student who has just made their first self-drafted garment!!! if you follow me, you may have heard me say that my favorite class to teach is my 5-day intensive that i call Design Your Own Wardrobe. this format is great for many people, because they can justify traveling and setting aside a whole week to immerse themselves in learning pattern drafting and garment construction.

several years ago, i began dreaming of another way to do this class… to break it up into monthly sessions over the course of a year. this would allow time for further exploration and experimentation between classes, and the chance to pursue variations within each pattern. however, i never could figure out where i could have such a class. until now!

now that i have my own studio space, i’d like to try it. the question is, will people come to Kerhonkson, NY? that’s what i’d like to gauge. the class would run from March to November 2020 (i’m excluding the deep Winter months because of weather). we would generally meet the first Saturday of each month, for 6 hours. over the course of the year we would cover drafting the patterns for a skirt, T-shirt, shift dress, leggings, and lounge pants, make muslins and fit each pattern, and make a real garment and some variations.

let me know if you might be interested!
